If you have ever been to Prince Edward County the likelihood is that you have heard of, or have also been to the Hayloft. Under previous ownership the infamous bar in a barn down Salmon Point Rd., was a regular Saturday night hotspot in the County. The wood floors of this old barn showed years of long nights on the dance floor that often ended with frantically trying to get a cab to take you home in the early morning hours.
Under new light, and new ownership the new Hayloft Dancehall is now a live music and event venue bringing the success of Toronto’s Dakota Tavern to Prince Edward County. The classic A Frame ceiling strung with white lights provides an intimate and romantic glow over its stage which in its first year welcomed the musical talents of Sloan, City and Colour, and Elliot Brood to name a few. The Hayloft Dancehall is also carving out another niche for itself in the County, as a wedding venue.
Andrew and Emma who are friends with the owners, were the first to take advantage of the amazing space for their wedding, and although the weather was less than cooperative on the day, the atmosphere of the barn and those in attendance was so perfect, inside and out.
I have been so giddy to share this wedding from the moment I found out I was photographing it, and from the moment I met Andrew, Emma and their absolutely gorgeous daughter Gracie that feeling jumped ten-fold. Their calm and amazingly sweet attitude to take the day as it came made my job even more amazing. The rain produced gorgeous afternoon light which we happily took advantage of before they proceeded back inside the barn to dance the night away.
