Zach & Emmanuelle’s In-Home Maternity Session in Belleville
Maternity sessions aren’t for everyone, and Emmanuelle would be the first to say so.
She had never really been into them, so when Zach reached out to book one, we talked about what she would want. The answer: photos that felt natural, that were about the two of them and not only the baby belly, and that included the cats. Emmanuelle has a deep love for her feline friends, so an in-home maternity session in Belleville was the obvious choice.
A Maternity Session That Felt Like Them
Zach and Emmanuelle were so excited to welcome their new baby to their family, and that came through without any posing. Being at home helped. There was no timeline and no location to get to. We wandered through the house, followed the light and let things happen.
The cats, for the record, were not interested in cooperating. But somehow they still ended up at the centre of everything, which felt exactly right.

Hearing that is my favourite part of doing this. You don’t have to love being photographed to end up with pictures you love.
Fostering Kittens, Too
Zach and Emmanuelle also foster kittens through the Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward in Belleville. Foster homes give kittens a quiet, safe place to grow until they’re ready to be adopted, and it takes a lot of patience and love.
If you’ve been thinking about adding a cat to your family, the shelter at 34 Wallbridge-Loyalist Road has cats and kittens looking for homes, and it’s always looking for foster families and donations too. Here in the County, the Loyalist Humane Society in Picton is another great place to find a cat. Either one is a good place to start.
Not Sure About a Maternity Session?
If you’re on the fence like Emmanuelle was, that’s completely fine. A maternity session doesn’t have to mean a flowing gown in a field (unless you want one). It can be a County beach, a quiet trail or your living room with a cat on the couch.
