County String in the Dunes at Sandbanks Provincial Park

County Strings at Sandbanks: A Sunset Brand Photography Session

There is something special about music that makes people stop and be present, even if just for a moment.

On a beautiful evening at Sandbanks Provincial Park, I met up with County Strings, a violin and cello duo bringing their music to the shores of Prince Edward County. As the sun began to set, their music carried across the beach, drawing the attention of people nearby who paused to listen. It was one of those simple, unexpected moments that made the evening feel special.

This wasn’t a wedding, but it was a chance to capture something that is such a big part of what makes weddings meaningful: the atmosphere, the emotion, and the little details that bring people together.

Getting to Know County Strings

County Strings is a violin and cello duo bringing live string music to weddings and events throughout Prince Edward County and the surrounding region. Combining the warmth of the cello with the beautiful melodies of the violin, Amber Walton-Amar and Jenna Gallagher offer couples a timeless yet personal musical touch for their wedding day, from ceremony music to cocktail hour and beyond.

I had the pleasure of photographing the duo during a brand shoot at Sandbanks, where we made the most of the beautiful evening light and the natural surroundings. The goal was to create imagery that captured both musicians and their instruments in a setting that felt relaxed, natural, and distinctly Prince Edward County.

It was a lovely opportunity to work with local creatives and showcase the people behind the businesses that help make the County such a special place to get married.

A Little Music, a Little Magic

One of my favourite things about photographing people is finding the moments in between the posed photographs. The quiet concentration of a musician preparing to play, the movement of a bow across the strings, the way the light catches an instrument, or the way someone nearby stops to take it all in.

These are the details that help tell a story.

As a photographer, I’m always drawn to the feeling of a moment just as much as how it looks. Brand photography offers the opportunity to capture that feeling while creating imagery that reflects who someone is and what makes their work unique.

For County Strings, that meant leaning into the natural beauty of the County, allowing the music to be part of the experience, and creating photographs that felt relaxed, thoughtful, and true to them.

Live Music for Your Prince Edward County Wedding

If you’re planning a wedding in Prince Edward County, the vendors you choose help shape the experience of your day. Beyond the flowers, the setting, and the little design details, it’s often the atmosphere that guests remember most.

Live music can be a beautiful part of that. The sound of a violin and cello during a ceremony, the music drifting through a cocktail hour, or a favourite song played live can add a personal touch to the celebration.

Photographing the People and Stories Behind the Work

One of my favourite things about photography is getting to know the people behind what they do. Whether I’m photographing a wedding, working with a local business, or collaborating with fellow creatives, I’m drawn to the details that make each person and their work unique. I want the images to feel natural, thoughtful, and true to the people in front of my camera.

Prince Edward County is home to so many talented creatives and small businesses, and I love having the opportunity to work with people who bring their own ideas, passion, and personality to the community. Brand photography is a chance to tell those stories visually, creating images that reflect not just what someone does, but who they are and what makes their work special.

If you’re a local business owner or creative looking for photography that feels personal and tells the story behind your work, I’d love to hear what you have in mind.
